Get Connected - Newcastle (East and West)

The Get Connected Programme that sets out to tackle Serious Youth Violence, Knife Crime, Child Criminal Exploitation, Gangs and County Lines. Get Connected is an innovative training programme built on the foundation of our experience of direct delivery and learning over the last 25 years. Get Connected allows us to share our experience and knowledge with other organisations so that they can benefit from the things we have learned.The 2-part Get Connected programme is delivered through five practical workshops and five events delivered over a period of one year. In Surrey we delivered this programme over a period of nine months and we achieved the following;

  • The Programme has seen over 80 individuals take part from over 31 organisations over the 5 Living toolkit workshop days.
  • 40 individuals took part in a Network voice survey, which merited key points about tackling the issues at hand.
  • Youth Voice had participation from three local high schools, concluding in 483 young people from age 14-16 taking part.

This is what the participants fed-back about The Get Connected Programme;

David Felton – ACC (Northumbria Police)
Gave an opening speech at Day 5 of the Get Connected living toolkit day, about the importance of working together to tackle Serious Youth Violence, Knife Crime, Child Criminal Exploitation, Gangs and County Lines. David refers to Get Connected as a vital tool to getting all agencies and organisations around the table, to tackle Newcastle local issues head on.

    • Enthusiasm is recognised as an example of good practice by The Home Office in respect of our work with young people who are most at risk of offending and social exclusion. Enthusiasm has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the work we do with young people in the local community.

Our first hand experience, a fundamental driver behind the Get Connected Programme, means that our expertise deliver on the following government priorities:

      • Tackle county lines – the exploitation of vulnerable people by gang members to sell drugs.
      • Protect vulnerable locations – the places where vulnerable young people are targeted.
      • Reduce violence and knife crime.
      • Safeguard gang-associated young people.
      • Promote early intervention.
      • Promote meaningful alternatives to gangs such as education, training and employment.

To arrange a face-to-face meeting to discuss The Get Connected Programme and how it can benefit your area, we will arrange for a member of the Get Connected team to contact you.
