Local Charity Enthusiasm Trust seeks Support from 25 Businesses in Face of Cuts

The Enthusiasm Trust, founded in Derby, has helped almost 8,000 children, locally, through mentoring and activities in and out of school.

And to celebrate the landmark they are looking for 25 Derby businesses to partner with them as Charity of the Year, pledging volunteers and funds.

Founder of the Enthusiasm Trust, Joe Russo, said: “I can’t tell you how proud we are of what Enthusiasm has achieved over these last 25 years, and what a difference that has made to the people of Derby.

“But we rely on fundraisers and business to keep our charity running and help change the lives of some of Derby’s most vulnerable young people.

“We want 25 local businesses to make us their Charity of the Year and pledge support – whether that be financial or by volunteering – and we have a lot of benefits we can give in return.”

The charity welcomed local dignitaries, partners and businesspeople to help celebrate the occasion at the University of Derby, in January.

Derby Council Leader, Ranjit Banwait, said: “I have worked with Enthusiasm since 2006 so I am fully aware of the incredible work they do with disadvantaged and vulnerable children and teenagers in Derby. It’s nothing short of amazing the difference they are able to make to the lives of young people who without them could end up in gangs and in prison.

“As Local Government has withdrawn funding from discretionary areas – due to central government cuts – it’s more important than ever that this work should be supported by local businesses and communities.”
